Baby Groot is a fictional character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), first appearing in the film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017). He is a younger, sapling version of the original Groot.

Following the events of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Groot sacrifices himself to save his friends. A sprig is collected from his remains, which is then planted and grows into Baby Groot.

Unlike his predecessor, Baby Groot is smaller and possesses a more childlike personality. He is known for his adorable demeanor, limited vocabulary (only repeating "I am Groot" in various intonations), and energetic behavior. Throughout the film, he learns and grows, gradually maturing into a teenager by the end of the movie.
